Kelsie Kimberlin’s “Perfume”: A Captivating Story of Love and Attraction

Kelsie Kimberlin follows up her third single release of 2025 with “Perfume,” an ode that transports the listener to the bittersweet and ultimately intoxicating realm of love, in all its lingering presence. Inspired by the sensational novel Perfume, Kimberlin decided to take an uplifting approach and featured scent as the metaphor for love's irresistible nature.

The music video was filmed in Kyiv, Ukraine, and is self-directed by Kelsie Kimberlin, featuring her walk through the city's cobble-stoned streets with a love-struck admirer following her closely behind. The imagery is uncomplicated yet illustrative, enhancing the dreamy quality of the song and making every step feel achingly poetic and entirely intentional. Kimberlin never sacrifices quality in her releases.

“Perfume” was mixed by Liam Noland (Adele) and mastered by Stuart Hawkes (Amy Winehouse), which allows for a perfectly produced song that still captures the essence of emotion. Kimberlin's almost ethereal vocals float over a celestial instrumental, allowing for a lasting impression. This enhances the ritual of Perfume in that it is a song that stays with you in a unique way like the scent of a moment, you cannot forget.

Perfume is dedicated to Mariya Troyanovskaya, a teenage girl who was recently a victim of a terrorist attack in Kyiv. Perfume is less a love song and more a tribute to the resilience of love.
