Shervin Boloorian’s "This is Your Time": An Anthem That Touches the Soul appeals to refugees.

An emotional and poignant offering comes from Indonesia-based Iranian peace activist vocalist Shervin Boloorian's newly released single, "This Is Your Time." With the producer award-winning Kipper Eldridge being very active (of Sting's Brand New Day fame), this song is a powerful anthem for the millions of child refugees in the world. It is heartbreakingly melodic and has a touching vocal performance. The essence of this song beckons a spirit of empathy, action, and healing.

"This Is Your Time" is rooted in Boloorian's experience as an Iranian refugee. Inspired by a poem written by Manal Omar, an Arab-American refugee, it extends universal themes, touching upon displacement, survival, and rebuilding a life. At a time when refugees are becoming targets increasingly under attack, Boloorian counters anti-immigrant rhetoric with a message of hope, strength, and dignity for human beings.

"This Is Your Time" joins the Middle Eastern essence with Western motifs to create a hauntingly vibrant sound. The composition features the ancient Persian Ney flute, by Boloorian himself. The calm blending of an ethereal instrumental by Eldridge with the powerful tones of Boloorian's tenor voice soaring above. The chorus is a blast of hope: compelling and brave, forever etched into one's consciousness.

Boloorian's emotionally charged performance in the music video alternates with footage of refugee children, providing a chilling yet effective reminder to the audience of the dire conditions faced by and the resilience of displaced youth. The video itself was screened, to great applause, at the Global Peace Summit in Bangkok, where it was praised for its moving storytelling. 

Boloorian has dedicated his profession to leveraging music as an instrument for peace and empowerment. His forthcoming album, Unbroken, underlines the same pillars of understanding trauma and healing, themes of identity. “This Is Your Time” is a personal and universal appeal from him, a call to open hearts and stand in unity with the vulnerable and asylum seekers.
