Powers of a Monk Releasing a Chilling Remix of "Strip the Bone"

Detroit-based duo Powers of the Monk (POM) returns with a remixed version of their December 2024 release, “Strip the Bone.” Known for its brooding, genre-blending sound, POM fuses dark rock, blues, and cinematic atmospheres to create music that is as evocative as it is immersive. Their latest offering, produced by Dani Macchi, refines the haunting essence of the original while injecting it with fresh sonic textures and heightened intensity.

“Strip the Bone” is a dark and hypnotic track that showcases POM’s signature atmospheric tension. The song’s foundation lies in David S. Monk’s gritty vocals and layered instrumentation, contrasted beautifully with CasSondra ‘Pontiac’ Powers’ haunting violin. The remix takes these elements further, emphasizing depth and space, allowing the song’s emotional weight to breathe even more powerfully.

Producer Dani Macchi (of the Italian cinematic rock band Belladonna) plays a crucial role in shaping this new version. His approach enhances the song’s mystical and moody aura, adding subtle yet impactful sonic shifts that create an even more immersive experience.

Powers of the Monk has been steadily building their unique soundscape since their 2022 debut EP, Freight Train. Their 2023 collaboration with Macchi on “Firefly” marked a pivotal shift in their sound, leading to an exciting string of releases in 2024, including the eerie “Icarus” and the hypnotic “Voodoo.” With "Ghost Without a Host", POM continues to push boundaries with their blend of raw emotion, haunting melodies, and cinematic depth.
