Fabio Cicala's "The Words I Didn't Say": A Classical Guitar Masterpiece Rooted in Emotion and Reflection

London-based guitarist and composer Fabio Cicala delivers "The Words I Didn't Say," a deeply personal and beautifully intricate piece. This musician-artist self-writes and releases a catalog that showcases seamless virtuosity and emotional depth as it merges Baroque and Neoclassical influences with the rich sonic expressiveness of classical guitar.

There was inspiration for this piece when Fabio had an introspective moment just before a gig; while playing George Michael's "Careless Whisper," his mind wandered to a woman he had crossed paths with on a film set, the connection that intrigued him but remained where words fail. That is how the melody came into being-fuelled with dramatic tension, and slight virtuosic flourishes, giving way to shimmers of psychedelia akin to 1970s progressive rock.

Cicala perceived his song as fuelled by the inner tension of emotion versus restraint. Yes, there was undeniable chemistry, but the lesson learned was not to act upon it to embody a stoic philosophy that renders temporary flashes. Indeed, life gets us in touch with the right people and moments when we are truly ready.

The whole track features but one instrument: Cordoba F7 Paco, classical guitar, named in homage to the legendary flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucía. Through those highly sensitive mics, every breath and movement directly entered the performance, thus rendering organic intimacy throughout the recording.

As an artist, Fabio Cicala views music as a means to transcendentalism. His compositions make a sound diary of personal and spiritual growth since his relocation from Italy to the UK in 2014. His larger project "Rude Awakening" dabbles in a collection of meditative pieces for guitar, tuned to 432 Hz. He considers this frequency to be a vehicle for healing. 

From busking in London's streets to corporate events, then acting as a busker elf in Disney's Artemis Fowl, Cicala's story embodies resilience, artistry, and self-discovery.
