Retrieval”: Kavlick’s Bold and Unforgettable Rock Debut album
Emerging from Fredericksburg, Virginia, Kavlick makes an impressive debut with Retrieval, a 14-track album that blends raw emotion, masterful storytelling, and a nod to ‘90s rock nostalgia. The album, mixed and mastered by acclaimed producer Rocco Guarino, known for his work with Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, captures the band’s growth and unwavering commitment to authenticity.
The band was born in 2021 when founders Luna Kavlick and Sam “Sag” Gardner began creating music in a basement rehearsal space. Over time, they were joined by bassist Carlos Quinones and multi-instrumentalist Adam Nienke, forming the core of the group’s early sound. Their makeshift studio, affectionately named The Kavlick House, became a creative haven for their evolving ideas.
As the lineup shifted, Quinones and Nienke stepped away, making room for guitarist James King and bassist Owen Devine. These changes injected fresh energy into the group, culminating in the bold and deeply personal sound of retrieval.
Drawing inspiration from bands like Pearl Jam and Queens of the Stone Age, Kavlick strikes a balance between paying homage to their influences and carving out a sound that’s uniquely theirs. With Rocco Guarino’s expert touch and the intimate setting of FXBG Public Radio, the album’s production highlights the band’s dynamic range and emotional depth.
Kavlick’s Retrieval isn’t just an album; it’s a statement. For fans of grunge, alternative rock, or heartfelt storytelling through music, this record offers a powerful and memorable experience.
