Horizonte Lied Unveils Hauntingly Beautiful Single “El Día Después”
Emerging from Monterrey, Mexico, Horizonte Lied returns with their latest single, “El Día Después” a masterful reimagining of their 2008 track. The song, released under SynthpopYourWorld Records, showcases the band’s evolution, blending their dark synthpop roots with modern alternative sounds.
Founded in 1992 by high school friends Alex Ezert and Bernardo Garza, Horizonte Lied’s journey began with covers of Depeche Mode and evolved into crafting original demos. Over three decades, their dedication to innovation has shaped their sound, culminating in standout releases like “El Día Después.”
The single explores profound themes, reflecting on personal secrets, forgiveness, and self-deception. Lyrically inspired by Gustavo Cerati’s poetic style and musically influenced by the darker tones of Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails, the song weaves a narrative of introspection and emotional vulnerability. Its evocative opening line, “Desires condemned us to wander in the memory of a goodbye,” sets the tone for a deeply contemplative journey.
“El Día Después” is a testament to the band’s versatility. The track begins with mechanical, unconventional verse drum patterns, starkly contrasting the dramatic, soaring choruses. Rodrigo Garza’s haunting guitar riffs seamlessly integrate to add texture and depth, while the intricate synth layers evoke a sense of melancholic beauty. Recorded at their M-13 Studios and meticulously arranged using Cubase 12, this revamped version demonstrates the band’s commitment to pushing creative boundaries.
Beyond the single, Horizonte Lied is working on “Final Remasters”, a project revisiting their early catalog with enhanced production. Including an instrumental version and a cinematic, atmospheric remix of “El Día Después” further underscores their ambition.
The band’s live performances, including a recent show at Monterrey’s iconic McMullen’s, continue to captivate audiences, solidifying their reputation as pioneers in the synthpop and alternative music scenes.
Immerse yourself in Horizonte Lied’s dark yet profoundly beautiful soundscape “El Día Después”. This release not only revisits their past but also carves a bold path forward for a band unafraid to embrace evolution.
