Shaun Lewis Unveils Emotional Rock Journey with 'SL EP 3'

Wirral, England native Shaun Lewis demonstrates his storytelling ability once again with the unveiling of his newest project, SL EP 3. This EP, the third in a series of three, expresses the unrefined core of Shaun's encounters, feelings, and outlook on life. Featuring four tracks; "Sister Flower," "Death in the Dark," "Last Night at Midnight," and "I Want You", the EP explores themes of independence, love, loss, and hope with a gritty, authentic sound.

Recorded at Crash Studios in Liverpool, SL EP 3 benefits from the skilled production of Andy Fernihough, giving the tracks a rich, organic feel despite the modest budget. Shaun is joined by talented musicians Stephen Kirwan (drums), Ben Friel (guitar), Tony Coram (guitar), Craig McMahon (guitar), Lee Barry (guitar), and Bobby Anglesey (bass), creating a full-bodied rock sound that elevates his lyrical narratives.

The EP opens with "Sister Flower," a spirited anthem of independence and unity. Shaun’s lyrics convey a message of peace and belief that there’s someone for everyone, as he sings, “Leave me alone, brother, we all should love each other.” It’s a powerful statement set against driving guitar riffs and dynamic percussion.

"Death in the Dark" shifts the tone to address street violence and the senseless loss of life. Yet, amid the gloomy topic, the song’s chorus provides a ray of hope, as Shaun confidently states, “I know things can be better.” This song is notable for its moving message and eerie tune.

"Last Night at Midnight" tells the story of a girl disconnected from reality, someone who plays at being part of a world she doesn’t understand. Shaun’s sharp, observational lyrics are underscored by an atmospheric sound, making this track a standout.

The EP closes with "I Want You," a love song written from a place of longing, despite love not being fully reciprocated. Shaun’s vulnerability shines through, making it an emotionally resonant closer for the project.

SL EP 3 signifies a crucial stage in Shaun Lewis’ musical evolution, combining rock and roll with profound lyrics and emotional storytelling. Fans can look forward to more from this prolific artist in 2025, as their music remains captivating and ever-evolving.
