Xperi-Lab’s Dialog with Machines: A Sonic Tribute to Technology

Xperi-Lab, the brainchild of Canadian multi-instrumentalist Ghislain Caya, brings us Dialog with Machines an 11-track ambient album that pushes the boundaries of sonic experimentation. Created in 2022 with a philosophy of limitless exploration, Xperi-Lab merges the organic with the electronic, creating an auditory landscape that feels both futuristic and primal.

Recorded in La Tuque and self-produced, Dialog with Machines is a homage to the technology we use to compose and communicate. The album is filled with moments of surprise, offering new layers of sound with each listen.

Tracks like "Transparent Species" and "Alien Invasion in Philadelphia" are built entirely from heavily treated field recordings, eschewing traditional synthesizers and creating a hauntingly atmospheric experience. Meanwhile, “The Preacher” uses the vintage Korg 770 for all its synth textures, apart from the voice, adding an element of nostalgia to its futuristic soundscapes.

Influenced by artists like Brian Eno, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Depeche Mode, Dialog with Machines blends ambient sound with experimental techniques, inviting listeners into a world of sonic possibilities. From calm, meditative moments to rhythmic pulses, the album reflects Caya’s love for both the organic and the technological, offering a rich, evolving listening experience. Dialog with Machines is a must for anyone interested in exploring the cutting edge of electronic music.
